Every tuesday and thursday a group of us play basketball at the Barber Center gym. It's a pick up game between friends, but others are invited as well. They all made fun of me for being 'their photographer' and told me to get good shots of them 'draining buckets.' I told them they had to be good in order to get a good shot. They were aware of me taking pictures of them, but when they would try to pose I would refuse to take photos and they got the hint. The games went on and I tried taking photos of them in action, a feat I found rather difficult to do. There was also HORRIBLE lighting in the gym, so that didn't help.
You would think this isn't how someone would normally play, but we do.
A half decent action shot. Most people are running, but in focus and not that blurry. One of the very few I was able to manage.
I like this one because the shooter in the background can see the ball go in and has stopped moving, but the players under the hoop were still waiting to see if it would go in and there is action.
I like this shot because the shooter is frozen in air, has nice elevation, the ball is moving and the shooter is in mild focus. He often hits those in case you were wondering.
The final photo is a lul in the action. A check ball, and after several games the speed has slowed down.
